The Upper Harbour Youth Council is an individual, non-profit organization working in close collaboration with the Upper Harbour Local Board. We strive to give our Youth the voice they deserve, and the channel to influence the bigger picture through us and our projects funded by the UHLB.
Founded in 2007, the Upper Harbour Youth Council is one of the largest youth councils by jurisdiction in New Zealand. We cover the area from Whenuapai, to Windsor Park laterally, and from West harbour to Northcross longitudinally.

Soon: UHYC Art Expo
The annual Upper Harbour Youth Council Art Exposition provides a platform for young artists to showcase their talents across various visual mediums, including painting, sculpture, and photography, with different themes each year. Hosted at venues throughout the Upper Harbour, the exhibition celebrates youth creativity and encourages community engagement with the arts.
Albany Market Book Swap 2025
With the Book Swap, we aim to introduce people to new, interesting forms of literary texts that help expand our horizon of knowledge. Participants bring a book and exchange it for a new read to their liking. Beyond the swapping, the event features activities like quizzes and scavenger hunts, fostering a love for reading and community interaction.
Term 1 Film and Frosting
Film & Frosting is a signature UHYC event that combines a cozy movie night with creative cupcake decorating. It’s a fun and relaxed evening where young people can enjoy a film, express their creativity, and connect with peers in a welcoming environment. With our recent addition of a much better Audio System to power the movie experience, we are constantly looking for places to cozify and improve!

The Upper Harbour Youth Council comprises of a central Leadership Team that governs four main project teams, alongside an additional Communications team. The project teams focus on the planning, delivery of, and overcoming challenges associated with our events, while the Communications team focuses on promotion, social media management, and on-site appearances where needed.
